Refund Policy
Last updated: August 2026
1. The short version
You normally have 14 days to change your mind about a purchase. Because BookB delivers digital content instantly, you are asked at checkout to consent to immediate access — and once you start reading or downloading, the change-of-mind right falls away, exactly as the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 provide. Your separate rights over faulty content are never affected. When in doubt, email us: we would rather refund a genuine problem than argue about it.
2. The 14-day cooling-off period
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have 14 days from the date of an online purchase to cancel and receive a full refund. For digital content, the regulations let you waive this right in exchange for immediate delivery. At checkout we ask for your express consent to begin supply straight away and your acknowledgement that you lose the right to cancel once supply has begun. If you buy a book and do not open, read or download it, your cooling-off right remains intact for the full 14 days — tell us within that window and we will refund you in full.
3. Subscriptions
The same 14-day right applies when you first take out a subscription. If you start reading during those 14 days, you have consented to immediate supply and the cooling-off right ends. After the cooling-off period, you can cancel your subscription at any time and it simply will not renew — you keep access to the end of the period you have paid for. We do not give pro-rata refunds for time remaining on a cancelled period, unless the service was at fault.
4. Faulty digital content
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If a book you have paid for is defective — for example, chapters are missing or corrupted, the download does not work, or the content is materially not as described — you are entitled to have it repaired or replaced without cost. If we cannot fix it within a reasonable time, you are entitled to a price reduction, which can mean a refund of up to the full amount you paid. These rights apply regardless of the cooling-off waiver.
5. How to request a refund
- Email admin@bookb.co.uk from the email address on your BookB account.
- Tell us which book or subscription the request concerns and the approximate purchase date.
- Briefly say why — a change of mind within the cooling-off window, or a description of the fault.
We respond within a few working days. Approved refunds are made to the original payment method through our payment processor, normally within 14 days of approval, and often much sooner.
6. Nothing here limits your statutory rights
This policy explains your rights — it does not replace or reduce them. If any part of it ever conflicts with UK consumer law, the law wins.
