Acceptable Use Policy

1. The spirit of it

BookB is priced so you own individual titles outright: you buy a book, the file is yours, and there is nothing running in the background. That only works if the books are used the way they are licensed — by you, for you. This policy sets out what fair use of BookB looks like and what crosses the line. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

2. Personal use, private links and shared logins

What you buy is a copy of a book for your own personal reading. Keeping it on your own phone, laptop and tablet is fine, and if you have set a password for the online library, signing in on those same devices is fine too — that is what reading-progress sync is for. What is not fine is publishing or passing round the private download link from your receipt, handing out copies so that other people get the books without buying them, running one login for a group, or reselling access in any form. Every PDF carries the buyer's name and email address on its imprint page, so a copy that turns up where it should not be leads back to the purchase it came from. If someone in your household wants a book, we would genuinely rather they bought their own copy.

3. No scraping or bulk downloading

You must not use bots, scripts, crawlers or any automated means to access, scrape, harvest or bulk-download books, chapters, covers or any other content from BookB. The link in your receipt, your purchase page and the download buttons in the online library exist for your own reading copies of titles you have bought — not as an export pipeline. Systematic downloading of the catalogue, even by hand, is treated the same way as scraping.

4. No redistribution or resale

You must not republish, redistribute, resell, sublicense or make BookB content publicly available anywhere else — free or paid. That includes uploading books to file-sharing sites, bundling them into other products, quoting entire chapters wholesale, or using our content to train or fine-tune machine-learning models. Short quotations with attribution for review or comment are welcome and lawful; wholesale copying is not.

5. No interference with the service

You must not attempt to bypass the paywall or entitlement checks, probe or attack the security of the site, overload it with automated traffic, or misuse payment flows (for example with stolen cards or fraudulent chargebacks). You must not use BookB to do anything unlawful.

6. What happens if this policy is breached

For minor or accidental breaches, we will normally warn you first and ask you to stop. For serious breaches — scraping, redistribution, resale, fraud or attacks on the service — we may withdraw access without refund: disabling the private download link in your receipt, and suspending or permanently closing any account you have. We reserve the right to pursue legal remedies, and where the law requires it we may report unlawful activity to the relevant authorities. None of this affects your statutory rights, which are set out in our Refund Policy.
